When Love met Happiness

Short stories 3
Priya was in her hometown Pune to attend a marriage ceremony of her cousin sister Neha. Everyone in her family has gathered to attend this auspicious ceremony. But interestingly more than Neha’s marriage, they are concerned about Priya. It was not hidden to anyone that Priya was in a relationship with a guy for 10 years who left her without taking any sacred vows. Neha is quite younger to her and that is a matter of concern for them. Priya generally tries to avoid such gatherings. But Neha is quite close to her so she couldn’t ignore her request.
Neha introduced Priya to her fiancée’s older brother Virat who was a tall, sturdy wheatish man with glittering brownish eyes. Interestingly he turned out to be Priya’s long-time college friend. Both of them were very happy to see each other after a break. They had many memories together in college days where they were best buddies but were mistaken as couples by other fellow mates. During those day’s Priya was in her relationship but despite that Virat proposed her, as a result, a distance developed between them. He left for his higher degrees to the U.K. Since then they were not in contact. It was a 7 days ceremony with different types of rituals. Those days flew with a blink and was full of happy moments for Priya. After a long time, Priya looked so happy.
Just preceding the night of Virat’s leaving for the U.K. he took Priya out for a long drive. He stopped his car in a quite lonely place and proposed Priya for marriage. He admitted he is still in love. He said, ” I want to be with you forever my love”. Priya didn’t know what to say, neither Virat forced him for an immediate answer. He just requests her to give him a reply tomorrow before leaving.
Priya couldn’t sleep that night. Next morning Priya went to a distant old temple ruin and sat there till the evening. Everyone was worried including Virat as her phone was out of signals to reach. Everyone was in search of her so was Virat. Finally, Virat caught her in a way back from the temple road. Before Virat could say anything Priya hugged him tight and whispered in his ears ” Yes I want to be with you forever my happiness”.

    1. Hi Anuskha! Good morning!
In my view Priya’s visit to temple, before taking a decision, was absolutely right.
She got the right vibes there and since it was His wish,Priya’s decision to acceptVirat’s proposal can never go wrong-this is my personal view.
Are you now free from your college duties?
Have a great time and happy sunday!
      Keep smiling,always!
      With love
